VAGEDES, Edward H., Sr. Age 88, of Trotwood, died quietly at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 28, 2009. Edward was born September 29, 1920 in St. Henry, OH, son of the late Henry and Frances (Garman) Vagedes. He proudly served his country in the US Army as a Medic during WWII. He was part owner of Salem Machine Service before retiring from Gem City Engineering in 1985. Edward has been a faithful member of Precious Blood Catholic Church since 1969. Mr. Vagedes is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 67 years, Marie (DeMange); 11 children, Edward, Jr. (Barb), Janice (Larry) Haley, Gerald (Vickie), Doris (Paul) Jackson, Patricia (Roger) Walker, Larry (Debbie), Mary (Mark) Estep, Charles, Anthony (Nancy), Bernice Parker, Connie (Nathan) Zebrowski; 28 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; numerous other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by grandson, Kirk Walker; daughter in-law, Jamie Vagedes; granddaughter, Lydia Vagedes; 5 brothers and 2 sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Precious Blood Catholic Church, 4961 Salem Ave., Trotwood, OH 45416, Fr. William O'Donnell, C.PP.S. celebrant. Interment immediately following in Royal Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Friday, January 30, 2009 at Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home & Crematory, 5555 Philadelphia Dr. at N. Main St., Dayton, OH 45415 and 9-10:30 AM Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VITAS Hospice in Edward's memory. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kitren B. Sinnathamby, M.D. for her compassionate and loving care.
