A native of New London, Connecticut, Capt. Mose Rogers died of yellow fever in Georgetown, SC aged about 42 years. For some years he was actively engaged in New York in the earliest experiments made in the application of steam to the purposes of navigation. After his voyage on the Savannah, he was engaged in 1820 to take command of the steamer Pee Dee operating between Georgetown and Cheraw.
