Obituary: Casper Berger,Former Danville Resident, Dies

News was received here today of
the death in Winston-Salem, N. C.,
yesterday of Casper Berger, a««d 74, a
one-time Danville citizen and member'
of an old Pittsylvania county
family who died from injuries sustained
a few-months ago when he
was struck by a car.
Mr. Berger, at one time engaged
in the tobacco business here, spent
a number of years at Lancaster. Pa.,
in the employ of the American Tobacco
Company. For nearly fifteen
years he had been engaged in the
mercantile business in Winston-
Salem.

He was a son of the late "Pomp"
Berger, who was for years a wellknown
farmer of the Chalk Level
section of the county and who at
one-time represented Pittsyivania
county in the state House of Delegates.
His wife died many years ago but
he leaves three sons. Henry C. Berger,
Armstead Berger and Witcher
Berger, of Winston-Salem, also his
stepmother, Mrs. Nannie Berger, of
Chalk Level.

The funeral will be conducted tomorrow
afternoon at three o'clock
at the old home place in Chalk Level
where, interment will be made.
