A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a homemaker, she died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. She was 81 and a native and resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday with recitation of the rosary at 6 p.m. Visiting at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church from 1 p.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Maynard E. Hurst. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by her husband of 62 years, Elgene A. Achord Sr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Sonny Olivier, Baton Rouge; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Maggie Achord, Jackson, Jack and Phyllis Achord and Jimmy and Barbara Achord, all of Baton Rouge; five sisters, Joyce Watts, Olive Mouch, Marguerite Oufnac, Beverly Scanlan and Jessie Stevens; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, John Elder and Olive Braud; and a brother, John Braud Jr. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. She was a member of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, Ladies Altar Society and Bea Mitchell's Rosary Group. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Louis King of France Catholic Church. She will be missed by all.
