We knew him as "Uncle Billie". He was a kind man, with a nice sense of humor.

The death of his son Duane was very hard on him. He never really got over it.

After the death of Duane, Fred and Gertie adopted a set of twins, who they named Dennis and Danny.

They were born around 1949. It was soon after birth that they discovered that both babies were "retarded".

It was recommended that they be put in an institution. It is not known what happened to them after that.
