J. T. Hook Funeral is Held Here Monday
Funeral services for J. T. Hook, 64, were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Phillips & Luckey funeral home with Rev. Jas. W. Askew of the Baptist church officiating. He was assisted by Rev. O. J. Morgan. Burial was made in Murray Cemetery, west of town.
While in conversation with his wife at their home Friday evening Mr. Hook suffered a stroke. He died Sunday morning.
A native of Rockdale, John Thomas Hook was born June 1, 1877, and had spent his entire life in or near Rockdale. He was married to Miss Theodosia Gist on January 8, 1899. His parents were among the first homes and buildings began to go up and before the railroad came. He was a long-time member of the Baptist church.
Besides his wife, Mrs. J. T. Hook, there survives six children: Albert Hook of Kaufman, Robert Hook of Temple, Claud Hook of Rosebud, Mrs. Tressie Wilson, Mrs. Elizabeth Kraatz of Rockdale, Mrs. Lillie McDonald of Cameron; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Altwin of Temple, Mrs. Lula Fleseler of Penelope; three brothers, Carl and Charlie Hook of Sharp and Bob Hook of San Angelo. There are eight grand-children.
