Funeral services for Mae C. Brown were conducted at 4 p.m., Friday, January 23, 2009 at Northern Heights Baptist Church. Rev. Royce Freeman and Rev. Damon Fountain officiated the service. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery.Marcene Freeman, pianist, played before and after the service. She also accompanied Rev. Royce Freeman and herself as they sang "What Will I Leave Behind." Mrs. Brown's grandson, Matthew Clark, sang "I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You."Serving as pallbearers were: Gerald Calhoun, Dennis Calhoun, Carlos Calhoun, Buford Calhoun, Ford Durham and Billy Brown. Honoray pallbearers were members of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and the Deacons of Northern Heigh

Mae C. Brown, 90, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009 at Crisp Regional Nursing & Rehab.
"Aunt Mae", as she was effectionaly known, was a native of Wilcox County. She was the daughter of the late J. Tommy Calhoun and the late Ellen Marshall Calhoun. Her husband, William Grady Brown preceded her in death.

"Aunt Mae" was a devoted and active member of Northern Heights Baptist Church and attended as long as her health permitted. She was employed by the Cordele Casual Wear and later the Manhatten Shirt Factory in Americus, where she retired.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: James and Margie Brown of Monticello; her daughter: Merlene Clark of Cordele; two grandchildren: Allen (Rose) Clark and Leisa (Joel) Key; and five great-grandchildren: Matthew Clark, Suzanne Clark, Hannah Clark, Keyin Clark and Koehn Clark.
