Mrs. Susie Jane Alexander passed away in the local hospital Dec. 26, after a long illness. Memorial services were conducted from Simmons chapel, Monday, Dec. 28, at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Gordon Synhorst officiatig.
..Interment was in Cedar cemetery with Warren Stanhope, Nyle Monasmith, Lyle Goebel, Robert Hughes, Loren Schultz and Gary Schultz as pallbearers.
..Jeannette Smith, Verla May Hughes, Nellie Ellenberger, Velda V. Grammon, Myrna Stanhope and Vera Green were in charge of the flowers.
..Susie Jane Casteel, daughter of Joel and Harriett Casteel, was born April 11, 1892 in Smith county, Kansas on a farm south of Cedar. She departed from this life at the Smith County Memorial hospital on December 26, 1959, at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 15 days.
..On June 1, 1914, she was united in marriied to Arthur Wing. To this union were born 6 children, one son and five daughters.
..Susie was preceded in death by her father and mother, two brothers, four sisters, and two daughters, Letha Hamilton, and Leola, who died in infancy; also her husband, Arthur Wing, who passed away April 6, 1951.
..On December 30, 1957 she was united in marriage to Ellis G. Alexander who passed away October 27, 1959.
..She leaves to mourn her passing four children: Osie A. Mason of Spring Valley, Calif.; Eva M. Foster of Topeka, Kans.; Arvilla Thompson of Smith Center, Kan.; and Vernon A. Wing of Troy, Kan.; four sisters: Elsie and Blanche Stanhope of Smith Center, Dot Goesch of Cozad, Neb. and Emma Curtis of Fleming, Colo.; four brothers: Aaron of Kensington, Clayton of Wichita, Homer of Lexington, Neb. and Roy of Sterling, Colo.; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.
..Susie made her home in Smith county all of her life with the exception of two years that she and her husband, Arthur, and family spent in Colorado.
