After a period of suffering extending over four and one half months, during which all that medical skill and loving hands could do, was done but to no avail, death claimed as its won the spirit of Elmer Weaver, Monday January 10th at 9 a.m.
Some ten years ago he suffered an attack similar to this but recovered, although his health has never been robust. While he had been ill since the first of September with leakage and enlargement of the heart and the physicians at no time holding out hope for his complete recovery, at times he seemed so much improved, his loved ones and those associated with them, entertained hopes for his recovery, but Sunday January 9th he rapidly grew worse until death came Monday morning.
One extremely and feature of the case was the illness and death of his mother. Her illness being almost identical with that of her son and which caused her death some three weeks ago.
Elmer Weaver was born September 16th 1899 at Bedford Wyo. the son of George and Miriam Davis Weaver, about 9 years ago he came to Afton with his mother to make his home.
September 21st 1921 he was united in marriage in the Logan Temple to Miss Rose Anglesey who with four small children survive him they are: Boyd 4, Fern 2 Sybil 2 and Areline 4 months. Also the following brother and sisters survive him, Wells Weaver of Auburn, Mrs Maud Madsen of Bedford, Mrs Mina Summers of Rexburg Idaho, Mrs Rachel Summers of Ogden, Utah and Mrs Dora Kimball of Arco, Idaho.
Funeral services were held in the South Ward Chapel at 1 p.m. Wed. January 12th.
Bishop George S. Kennington was in charge of the services.
The Ward Choir rendered the songs "Come Come Ye Saints" "O My Father" and Nearer My God to Thee". Special musical numbers were vocal solo, assisted by choir by Mrs Gean Harrison "O Grave Where is Thy Victory". Duet Arling and Lloyd Gardner, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives."
Bishop Roy Dana was the first speaker, he spoke of the plan of redemption and told how our future degree of exaltation would depend upon our lives upon this earth. He spoke of the devotion Mr Weaver always manifested toward his mother and his desire to do right always. Ernest Clark who was the next speaker said he had been called to the home of Bro Weaver on numerous occasions to assist in administrations he spoke of his remarkable faith and patient uncomplaining spirit.
Bp. Kennington told of the long period of suffering and the love and patience manifested by the devoted young wife. One can scarcely realize what it means to be ill for almost five months, to have his mother become ill and die in the same house and himself so seriously ill and confined to his bed. But through it all his patience and fortitude was an inspiration.
Prayers were by Bp Otto Harrison and Joseph E. Linford.
Interment was in the Afton cemetery.
