Geraldine E. Masters Barbe, a longtime resident of Wilson County, Texas, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at 2:32 p.m. in the Regent Care Medical Center in San Antonio at the age of 81 years, 9 months, and 25 days.

Geraldine was born on Feb. 11, 1927, in Fairview, in Wilson County, the daughter of Charley Washington and Jennie Flewellen Masters. She attended school and was a retired farmer. Geraldine married James Kirby Barbe on Jan. 22, 1981, in San Antonio. She was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Geraldine is survived by her husband of over 27 years, James Kirby Barbe of Wilson County; her son, Kenneth Dale Jones of Seguin; her grandchildren, John Stanley Jones of Seguin and Shane Denby Jones of Adkins; her great-grandchildren, Ty Dawson Jones of Seguin, Joshua Samuel Jones of Adkins, Jessica Marie Bonner of San Antonio, and Creed Sampson of Floresville; her great-great-grandchildren, Emily Marie Bonner, Joseph Bonner, and Bobbie Bonner, all of San Antonio; and her twin brother, Gerald E. Masters.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Cleola Masters Vickers, Charles A. Masters, Charlotte Masters Hayden, Beatrice Masters Bundrick, Don Carlos Masters, James L. Masters, Elmo Sidney Masters, Carmen Masters Barber, and Delton D. Masters.

Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

Funeral services began at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel, officiated by the Rev. Dan R. Harris, the Rev. Walter Alford, and the Rev. Lola Faulkner. Musical selections included "Precious Memories," "Beulah Land," and "Jesus Hold My Hand," performed by the Floresville Church of Christ Choir.

Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Shane Jones, Jerry Masters, Creed Sampson, James Barbe, and Joshua Jones.
