Mildred Askeland Funeral Rites Held
Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at two at the First Lutheran Church for Mrs. Mildred Victoria Askeland, who died at her home northwest of Orland last Wednesday morning after an extended illness. Pastor Johannes Hoijfeld officiated at the services and burial was in the Masonic cemetery.
Mrs. Askeland was a native of South Dakota, born on June 6, 1904. She came to Orland with her parents in 1909 and attended the local schools and taught for a number of years in the Orland elementary school.
Mrs. Askeland is survived by her husband, Severn Askeland; one son, Harlan, of Orland; one daughter, Janice, Chico; a sister, Mrs. Arvilla Romer, Orland; two brothers, Joseph, Orland and Howard, Willows; her father, Rasmus Holvik, and step-mother, Mrs. Josephine Holvik. – Transcribed by E.
