Edward Alfred Scott was born August 1871 in England. U. S. census shows his arrival to the U. S. was in 1872. He married Adeline Belzora Stevens October 25, 1891.
Edward was a house painter for many years. However, the 1910 U. S. Census of Durant, Mississippi shows that he was working for the railroad as a "Car Inspector" at that time. In later life, he was a night watchman for The Rotary Lift Company, Memphis Tennessee, for ten years. He retired from there in 1952.
He and Adeline celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, October 25, 1961. They had eleven children, Joly, Lily Violet, Josephine Gertrude, Lawrence Edward, Claude Lee, Margaret Irene, William Alfred, Ada Muriel, Charles Ernest, Dudley Wallace, and Mamie Marie Scott.
Mr. Scott died, March 15, 1962, at St. Joseph Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery – Midtown, Memphis Tennessee. He was a member of the Broadway Baptist Church.
