Frances Marion (Curlee) Palmer, 88, of Middletown, widow of Morley B. Palmer, died at Middlesex Memorial Hospital on Thursday (January 22, 2009) in her beloved daughter's arms after a courageous battle against a long illness.

A long-time resident of Cromwell and later Middletown, Frances worked all her adult life as a key-punch operator at several area firms, including Travelers Insurance, Capewell Mfg., and Ames Department Store. She loved her family, music, teddy bears, lilacs, lemons, movies, Milky-ways, and a good laugh. An avid reader, Frances was also a crossword-puzzle whiz, and loved Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune game shows, where she could test her knowledge against the contestants.

Mrs. Palmer leaves a daughter, Sharon Palmer of Middletown; sisters, Mary Wirtz and Barbara Rubenthaler of Upland, CA; granddaughter Meghan Wessel of Berlin; and daughter-in-law Kathleen Thompson of Hebron. She was predeceased by her son Jerry Palmer; a sister Norma Rice; and brother William Curlee.
