James Rodgers Calhoun was the son of Nellie Agnes Rodgers (1908-1982) and Harry Oliver Calhoun (1905-1957).

Obituary, Butler Eagle, January 25, 1951:
James Rodgers Calhoun, aged 16, of Fairview, died at 5:45 o'clock this morning in the Butler County Hospital, after several months' illness.
James was a junior in Karnes-Fairview Township high school, and a member of the Fairview United Presbyterian church.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry O. Calhoun; a sister, Edna Jane Calhoun, at home; three brothers, Harry P., Joel and Jan, at home; and his (grandparents Sarah) Calhoun of Parker R. D. 2 and Mrs. Lyda Hilliard of Petrolia.
Friends will be received at the Helper Funeral home, Petrolia, after 10 o'clock tomorrow morning.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the funeral home, with the Rev. R.C. Sherrard, pastor of the Fairview United Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial will be in the Bear Creek cemetery.
