Gaylord "Supe" Supinger, 83, of Rushville, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007 at the Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus.

Born June 8, 1924 in New Castle, he was the son of Elmer and Arnel (Kelly) Supinger, both deceased.

Mr. Supinger was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in both World War II and Korea. He served on the ship in World War II that captured a German submarine now on display at the Chicago museum. He bartended for 58 years. While in Bradenton, Fla. he worked at the Village Barn. He tended bar locally at the Oasis and VFW, and he owned his own bar in the 1960s in Rushville. He also worked at the Arlington Tractor Cab several years. He was a member of the Rushville Eagles, American Legion and was past manager of the VFW.

He married Elsie Stamm Reed April 18, 1973; she preceded him in death Dec. 24, 1997. He was married to Marilyn Jean Cole.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald (and wife Tess) of New Castle and Wayne of California; three daughters, Darlene (Mrs. Rex) Sullivan of Greensburg, Marsha (Mrs. Dean) Moore of Manilla and Vicki Barrow of Rushville; three sisters, Juanita Medler of Portland, Esther Johnson of Indianapolis and Charlotte Dudley of New Castle; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive. He is also survived by a very special nephew, Jerry Dean of Indianapolis.

Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two daughters, Gail Wolfe and Sandra Jo Supinger; two brothers, Wayne and Joseph; and two sisters, Lucille Dean and Thelma Murphy.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Moster Mortuary in Rushville. Burial will follow in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery and will include a graveside military service. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of South Central Indiana.
