George Washington Bartley was the son of Grace Vada Gates (1886-1947) and Harry Oliver 'Squire' Bartley (1878-1951), both born in Pennsylvania.

He married Ruth Eleanor Rodgers (1913-1968) in 1930 in Butler County, Pennsylvania.

George Bartley, of Dutch Hill, Parker R.D. 1, died this morning at butler County Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. Funeral arrangements are being completed by H. Jack Buzzard Funeral Home, Parker.

Services Slated for Retired Dutch Hill Merchant, Teacher

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Dutch Hill, Parker R.D. 1, retired Dutch Hill merchant and former school board member and justice of the peace, who died Saturday morning in Butler County Memorial Hospital, after an illness.
Born in Perry Township, Clarion County, Feb. 22, 1908, he was the son of the late Harry "Squire" and Grace Gates Bartley.
He had owned and operated the Harry Bartley and Sons General Store, at Dutch Hill, from the time he was 17 until his retirement five years ago.
He had several terms on the Perry Township School Board, and was a member of the board at the time of the formation of the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School jointure.
He had been a justice of the peace in Perry Township for 32 years.
He was a member of the Church of God of Dutch Hill, the IOOF Lodge 659 of West Freedom, and the Encampment at Clarion, and the Clarion Venango board of the Senior Citizens Council.
His first wife, Elanor Ruth Rodgers Bartley, died in 1968.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel Zilafro Bartley, whom he married June 14, 1969, two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Neiline) Snow of Pertolia and Mrs. William (Lida) Krug of Titusville R.D. 1; two sons, Harry G. Bartley of Parker R.D. 1ans Sam of Parker R.D. 2; a number of grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Howard (Martha) Keasey of Butler; three stepsons, James Zilafro of Franklin and John and Joseph of Traverse City, Mich.; and a number of step grandchildren; a brother Wyatt Bartley of Dutch Hill of Parker R.D. 1; a sister, Mrs. Rubin (Melee) Radaker of Sligo; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A son, a brother and a sister preceded him in death.

BARTLEY - Friends of George Washington Bartley of Dutch Hill, Parker R.D. 1, who died Saturday, Oct. 7, 1978, will be received at the H. Jack Buzzard Funeral Home, Wayne Street, Parker, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and at the church for an hour before the services. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Church of God, Dutch Hill, with the Rev. Howard Penz, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery, Petroila. Arrangements by Buzzard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the AC Valley Ambulance Service.
