Lelia Turner Bowles
Mrs. Lelia Lizzie Turner Bowles, age 96, of Patrick Springs, Virginia, passed away on February 1, 2018 at her home. She was born in Patrick County, Virginia on February 12, 1921 to the late Leonard T. Turner and Martha Susan Texas Adams Turner. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett W. Bowles; one sister, Hestell Foley; three brothers, Nesco, Edwin, and Elmo Turner. Lelia loved quilting, gardening and cooking; she always had a meal prepared for anyone who came to visit. She was an avid bird watcher. She was a longtime member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and an active member of the Hilltoppers.

Mrs. Bowles is survived by three children, Nancy B. Barrow of Martinsville, Neva Bowles of Willis, and Glenn A. Bowles of Bassett; four grandchildren, Jason Barrow, Katie Neddenriep, Slade Mankins, and Sara Alderman; four great grandchildren; Breanna Torres, Jacob Barrow, Rachael Alderman, and Luke Neddenriep; one sister, Velda Handy of Patrick Springs; one brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Shelby Turner of Stuart; a special niece and caregiver, Carol Janosko of Patrick Springs and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Mrs. Bowles will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at 3:00 pm at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Anderson officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Adams Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church Sunday afternoon.
