Louise was the daughter of James and Ellen Doon. When she was eight years old her family came by to train to Grand Island, Nebraska where her father worked on the railroad. In 1884 the family took a homestead in Sherman County. Only a year later James died leaving his widow and three children.
Louise Doon and Joseph Grammer were married June 27, l893 in Grand Island and made their home in Pleasanton where Joseph was a carpenter. They were the parents of five children: an infant son who died at birth, Anna Geisler, Bessie, Frank, James, and Harvey.
Joseph died December 18, 1905. Louise maintained her home and in later years her Mother Ellen and Brother Andrew lived with the family. Bessie cared for her Mother until Louise died.
