Born in Union, he was a son of the late Stephen and Henrietta Cooper Green.
Mr. Green served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Post No. 3. He was a commissioner of Gantt Fire and Sewer District for twenty years, and was a member and former Deacon of West Gantt First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Melton Green, of the home; two daughters, Tricia Nelson and husband, David, of Atlanta, and Renee Gandy and husband, Clay, of Greenville; seven grandchildren, Josh, Rachel, and Grace Nelson of Atlanta, and Emily, Lydia, Elyse, and Ben Gandy of Greenville; a brother, Billy Green of Chester; and two sisters, Ruby Nooncaster and Shirley Broome, both of North Carolina.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. at West Gantt First Baptist Church.
Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to West Gantt First Baptist, Building Fund, 1452 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
The family is at the residence.
