He was born in Windham, Conn...He was an early settler of this town and one of its most prominent citizens. He was in the Revolutionary war from Connecticut, attaining the rank of Major. He was selectman several years, Representative four years, Senator two, on the Governor's Council one, and for a short time Judge of Probate. He died in Claremont village at the house of his daughter Olive, wife of Theophilus Clarke. His home was on Town hill, being the farm now [1896] owned by the heirs of Russell Jarvis.
