Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary, with the Rev. David Watson officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
Mr. Atkerson was born March 19, 1904, in Birmingham, Alabama, and moved to Arizona in 1947. He was a contractor for the agriculture industry.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Lee; seven sons: Virgil Atkerson and Cecil Marmon, both of McAllister, OK, Jeff Atkerson, of Coolidge, Charles and Jimmy Atkerson, both of Big Springs, TX, Ralph Marmon, of Portland, OR, and Jerry Marmon, of Marana; eight daughters: the Rev. Betty Marie Diaz, of Salt Lake City, UT, Lila Mae McCurtain, of Dallas, TX, Gloria Harrison, of McAllister, OK, Jessie Smith, of Brownfield, TX, Francis Ford and Mary Molina, both of Coolidge, Betty Cathrine Grant, of Casa Grande and Linda Jett, of Big Springs, TX; 39 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
