Margaret "Mary" L. Cochran 78, a resident of Baker City died Monday, Feb. 14, at St. Lukes Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho. Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 18 at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Reverend Robert C. Irwin celebrated the Mass.
Visitation was held at Coles Funeral Home on Feb. 17. A graveside service was held Feb. 18 at the Prairie City Cemetery. Pastor Darrell Johnson of Grace Chapel of Prairie City officiated.
Mrs. Cochran was born Feb.18, 1926, in John Day to Carl and Mabel (Gunther) Born. She was raised in Grant County and received her education in Grant and Baker Counties.
She married Laurance W. "Larry" Cochran on April 6, 1947, in John Day. In 1954, they moved from Prairie City to Baker City. Mrs. Cochran worked 22 years for the Baker County ESD.
She enjoyed doing crafts and was an avid reader. She enjoyed fishing and loved animals. She loved her grandchildren. Mrs. Cochran was able to see the funny things in life, loving it and her family. She was a member of the St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
She is survived by her husband, Laurance W. "Larry" Cochran, of Baker City; two daughters, Linda Cochran of Ontario and Vickie and son-in-law Lee Mullin of Prairie City; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Darrell and Dorothy Johnson;. and several step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
