Jimmie Medlin, 92, of Gideon, Mo., died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at the Gideon Nursing Center.
Born March 29, 1912 in Crockett County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Matthew Alexander and Hattie Sue Branch Medlin. His paternal grandparents were James and Mary L. Johns Medlin and maternal grandparents were John Needham and Martha Alice Davis Branch.
His parents and siblings moved to Caruthersville, Mo. about 1915. His siblings were Finis Medlin, Wilmer Branch Medlin, Cecile Katherine Medlin Christian, Martha Laverne Medlin, Woodrow Wilson (Jack) Medlin, Khuron (Connie) Medlin and Mary Sue Medlin Jones.
On Nov. 25, 1932, he married Laura Bell Slayton. Surviving are three sons, James Kenneth Medlin of Gray Summit, Mo., Paul Wayne Medlin of Arnold, Mo. and Donald Gerald Medlin of Clever, Mo.; seven daughters, Virginia Sue Singleton of Villa Ridge, Mo., Minnie Nadine Thomas of Pacific, Mo., Shelby Jean Cummings of Braggadocio, Mo., Linda Carol Durbin of Linn, Mo., Brenda Faye Slover of Terre Haute, Ind., Retia Gail Lance of Gideon, Mo. and Connie Elizabeth Willman of Goodman, Mo.; 35 grandchildren and numerous great, great-great and great-great-great- grandchildren.
