Roy was born in Jackson County to Thomas Hagen and Effie Leannah Henderson Chase. He attended high school at Shawswick. He was a carpenter by trade and a small time farmer.
He was married to Flavia Laurel Bright on January 12, 1935 in a double wedding with close friends, Lowell Akin and Marie Johnson.
To this union was born three children, Bonnie Chase Case, Ronald Chase and Ruth Ann Chase, all who survived him at the time of his death, as well as his wife.
Also surviving were brothers, Maurice, Paul, Ivan,and sisters, Alice Case and Blanche Scherschel. Also four grandchildren, and his parents.
Services were under direction of Day and Carter Mortuary, held at the White River Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
