He was born in Millersburg, January 15, 1923, the son of the late Abram B., and Fannie (Bashore) Lauver.
He was the retired Post Master for Dalmatia Post Office, and also retired from the United States Army.
He was a Lifetime member of St. Lukes U.C.C., Malta, and had served on the church council and church choir. He had memberships with the Dalmatia Kiwanis and Alvin E. Long American Legion both in Mandata; VFW, Post #5507 and Loyal Order of the Moose #59, both in Millersburg. He was a volunteer for many years for the Dalmatia Ambulance, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross and National League of Post Masters. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II and a reservist. He enjoyed stamp collecting and sharing his knowledge with the "Kids Club" in the Dalmatia Elementary School..
Surviving are his wife, Betty M. (Zerbe) Lauver; 2 sons, Gerald A. Lauver, Millersburg and Bradley K. Lauver, Harrisburg; sister, Alma Ebersole, Mechanicsburg; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Elizabeth Landis, Frances Gish, and Ruth Kreider; and granddaughter, Ashley Lauver .
Services will be held at his church on Wednesday, January 28, 11 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will held in the church cemetery. Friends will be received at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 from 7-9 p.m., and at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m.
