"Mrs. Sellers Rites Today
Graveside rites will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Cedar Hill Cemetery for Mrs. Minnie L. Sellers, 78, an Abilene resident for more than a half century and one of the first city secretaries.
Officiating will be Dr. Willis P. Gerhart, retired Episcopal rector. Laughter-North Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Sellers had been hospitalized since suffering a stroke at her Fort Phantom Hill Lake home Sunday night.
She was born March 18, 1884, at Buffalo, Tex., and came to Abilene about 1910 with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Walker.
She was city secretary for a number of years before establishing the M. L. Sellers Loan Co. at 1231 N. 1st some 20 years ago. She had operated the business until her death.
Mrs. Sellers was a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Hollyce Hinkle of Austin and Mrs. Velma Lee Eklund of Maplewood, N.J.; one brother, Earl A. Walker of Fort Phantom Hill Lake, and four grandchildren."
