Rae Stopyra
Rae Stopyra, a beautiful wife and mother,peacefully finished her fight with cancer on January 11,2006, at Flagler Hospital. Surrounded by her family and close friends, she taught them to the end how to live and die with dignity and grace. Rae,59, began her journey in San Francisco, Calf., on Dec.15,1946,and her path eventually led her to Jacksonville, where she lived for 37 years with her husband Ed. They were joined 14 years later by their children, David,22 and Kathleen 21. While her first love was always her family. Rae quickly became part of a larger family while working as a registered nurse in Jacksonville/St.Augustine area. Her family in the emergency room at Flagler Hospital in St.Augustine particularly was particularly thankful for her enthusiasm in starting their Primary Clinic in 2005. Rae also devoted her time as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, where she chaired the first Relay for Life for the Jacksonville San Jose/San Marco area. Her hard work and dedication made this the most successful inaugural Relay in Jacksonville American Cancer Society history. Rea lived out the cornerstone of her life, her Catholic faith as one of the founding members for Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Port Orange, Fla. In addition to her husband and children, Rae is survived by her mother, Mary Wall, and sister, Susan Jozwiak, of St.Austine, and brother, Roy Wall, of Jacksonville. Funeral services for Rae Frances Stopyra, 40 Lazy Eight Dr., Port Orange, will be held Sat. Jan.14,2006, 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 4550 Clyde Morris Blvd. Port Orange, where the family will receive friends Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in addition to flowers, the family especially encourages donations be made in her memory to Jacksonville American Cancer Society Duval Unit, 1430 Prudential Dr.,Jacksonville, FL 32207. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange.
