Alvin Knipstein, 34, assistant chief of the Hoagland Fire Department, was dead on arrival at the Lutheran Hospital at 11:10 am yesterday. He was a member of St John's Lutheran Church and its Men's Club and was a trustee of the church. Surviving are his widow, Alvena; his parents, Mr and Mrs Christ Knipstein of Fort Wayne, three daughters, Charlotte, Deborah and Lois; at home; two sons, Darrel and Thomas at home; two brothers, Walter and Wilbur of Fort Wayne. The body was taken to the Zwick Funeral Home, Decatur, where friends may call after 7 pm today. Services will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday in the funeral home and at 2 pm in St John's Church, the Rev Edwin AH Jacob officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
