~BURIED IN WILLARD PIONEER CEMETERY~
Daughter of William & Mary Ann Trulock; Ann is the first wife of George Welton Ward. They married 24 January 1842, St. George, Bloomsbury, Middlesex, England.
She was baptized into the LDS Church 30 July 1849. She and her family immigrated from Liverpool 2 February 1851 aboard the sailing vessel, "Ellen Maria" to New Orleans. They then traveled to St. Louis, up the Mississippi River aboard the steam ship "Alex Scott" & then aboard the "Robert Campbell" to Kanesville, Iowa.
They migrated west with Captain Robert Wiemer Wagon Company in July 1852 to Salt Lake Valley, Utah, arriving 9 October 1852. All wintered at North Ogden, Weber County and moved to settle at Willard, Box Elder County, Utah in the spring.
Ann was mother to eight children; she died of pneumonia when her youngest was 2 & her oldest 18.
Many of her family, including her husband & his 2nd wife were buried about 1/2 mile north east at WILLARD PRECINCT CEMETERY after no more burials were made in WILLARD PIONEER CEMETERY.
Ann's stone is one of only seven remaining after the 1923 Willard Flood. It is an 8 foot tall zink metal original pillar standing in the center of the one square block cemetery.
On the back of the pillar is attached a plaque which reads:
FOLD HER, O FATHER,
IN THINE ARMS,
AND LET HER
HENCEFORTH BE
A MESSENGER OF LOVE
BETWEEN
OUR HUMAN HEARTS
AND THEE.
