Judge Munro, of Columbus, Dies in Macon

Macon - Judge George Pierce Munro, 82, of Columbus, died here last night at a local hospital.

Judge Munro formerly was a judge of the Supreme Court of the Chattahoochee Circuit. He was born in Marion County in 1867. His father was the late G. W. C. Munro and his mother was the late Martha Ann Stevenson Munro.

Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Anna Merritt, of Columbus; one son, Dr. P. M. Munro, Lynchburg, Va.; three daughters, Mrs. I. S. Ingram, Carrollton; Mrs. R. A. Merritt, Houston, Texas, and Mrs. J. C. Bonner, Milledgeville.

Last Rites Today For Judge Munro

Funeral for Judge George Pierce Munro, 82, former judge of the Chattahoochee Circuit of Superior courts, were held at 11 a.m. today at the Buena Vista Methodist church in Buena Vista. The Rev. James R. Webb, pastor of the Wynnton Methodist church in Columbus, will conduct the service. Burial will be in the Buena Vista cemetery.

Member of the George Norman Munro Post, American Legion, Marion county, will form an honorary escort for the jurist's funeral. Pallbearers, all relatives of Judge Munro, will be Edward H. McMichael, Ernest Stevens, Robert Putnam Stevens, Clark Duncan Jr., William H. Croxton, and William T. Hollis.

Judge Munro, who died Sunday at a Macon hospital where he had been under treatment since May, lived on Second avenue in Columbus.
