Jean M. (Ludwig) Abernathey, 72, of Tiadaghton Garden Apts., formerly of Indians, Pa., died Tuesday morning, May 28, 1996 in the Jersey Shore Hospital.

Born June 29, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was the daughter of William Ludwig and the former Mary E. Galligan Ludwig. She was united in marriage January 19, 1946 to Albert A. Abetnathey, he preceded her in death September 15, 1984.

For more than 20 years she was a Court Reporter in Indiana Co., and was a member of the Penna. State Court Reporters Assoc. She was a member of AARP.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Nancy J. (Abbey) David Gunther o Jersey Shore, Pa.; step-son Samuel W. Abernathey of Richmond, Va., one step-daughter Mrs. Reba (David) Evans of Cape Coral, Fl.; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; one sister, Nancy E. Ludwig of Arlington, Va.

Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the United Cemetery, Ross Twp., Pittsburgh. Arrangements by Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main Street, Jersey Shore, Pa.
