My life by Dale Leming George

· · I was born in Waldron, Arkansas, January 21, 1902. Named Abbie(an old family name) Dale Leming and my brother Adolphus Glendon, two years later. My mother's father, Isac Walton Davis, settled in this little frontier town in the Ouichita Mtns, after the Civil War. He was from Georgia and fought with the 24th Georgia Regiment all four years of the War. He was wounded three times. He was a 3rd cousin of Jefferson Davis.

My father's family migrated to Waldron before the War, from Leming, Texas-- a town founded by the family. My grandfather, Adolphus Gustovus Leming was -- at the age of 16-- a "drummer boy" in this War. My mother Nora Chanmer Davis and my father Luther Elige Leming, met in Waldron, and were married March 7, 1901. She was a school teacher and he was a medical student at the University of Arkansas.

When I was 15 we moved to Belleville, Arkansas where my father had a grain and feed store. My brother and I graduated from high school, then they moved to Kansas City, Missouri so we children could go to College and live at home. My brother graduated from U.M.K.C. an honor student, with a Bachelor of Law L.L.B. degree. He later received his Dr.s L.L.D. degree. I went to Horner Institute of Fine Arts -- later named the Conservatory of Music.--I taught music.
