Retired Holley Carburetor Plant employee Frances McFarland, 87, of Paris, died Friday, April 24, 2009, at a residence in Cunningham.
A service was held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Paris where she was a member.
Billy Arnold, William Dunlap and James Woodall officiated. Burial followed in Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove.
Pallbearers were Marc Moore; Adam Jackson; Derek, Sean and Jacob McFarland; and Daren Gaskins.
Born Nov. 1, 1921, in Cottage Grove, she was the daughter of James William Hill and Rosie Jane Brown Hill.
She was married on Dec. 24, 1949, to Paul Richard McFarland, who died Feb. 3, 1993.
According to a family member she loved to read, do arts and crafts and serve people.
She is survived by a daughter: Donna Kay (William) Gaskins of Paris; a son: Larry (Millie) McFarland of Cunningham; two sisters: Carnell (Cecil) Browning of Paris and Flossie Mae (Dick) McKee of Jacksonville, Ore.;
Two brothers: Nathan (Darrell) Hill and Teddy (Brenda) Hill, both of Paris; seven grandchildren: Derek, Jennifer, Sean, Siobhan, Jacob and Jessica McFarland and Daren Gaskins; and a great-grandchild: Tyler Parker McFarland.
She also was preceded in death by a son: Ricky McFarland, who died Jan. 25, 2006; two sisters: Mary Kathryn Browning and Opal Louise Maddox; and two brothers: A.J. and James William Hill Jr.
