Mary Lanius, age 91, a resident of Glendale Heights, IL, died October 11, 2020, at AMITA Health Hospice Residence in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.

She was born February 10, 1929 to James and Delia Petty.

She grew up in Tennessee on a farm and loved animals and eating southern food. She never got rid of her thick southern accent (hillbilly slang). Grandma never lost her sense of humor, even to the end she was still making us laugh. To Mary, family was very important. She was very family driven and cared especially for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Jessica (Mat) Adamzak; grandson James Pieroni "Jimmie", great grandchildren, Shea (Brii) Guevara, Logan Guevara, Wesley Adamzak, and great-great grandchild Merci Guevara; granddaughter Theresa (Don) Moravec; great grandchildren Breanna Graff, Branden Moravec; granddaughter Brandy (Bob) Klasek; great grandchildren, Cadenee, Clara, Keir; and grandson, Andrew Lanius.

Preceded in death by her husband Doris Lanius; parents, James and Delia Petty; brother Richard Petty; sister Addie (Vernon) Davis; son Terry Lanius and daughter Sherry (Dan) Pieroni; and her beloved dog, Shaun and grand puppy Zoe.

A visitation will be held October 16, 2020 from 4:00pm - 6:30pm at Hultgren Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held October 16, 2020 at 6:30pm at Hultgren Funeral Home. Interment will be private.
