In the midst of the festivities came the sad news of the sudden death of Cornelius Coots who fell dead about noon while chopping at his woodpile stricken with apoplexy or something of that nature. Mr. Coots was a pleasant kind-hearted man who had many friends, he leaves a wife and four small children to mourn his loss. This is the fourth sudden death In Barlow village with-in a year.

I take this opportunity of thanking my many friends in Barlow for their kindness to me and my family during the sickness and subsequent death of my husband and the kind aid that has been bestowed upon me in the way of donations of money; clothing and provisions, and cutting and hauling wood, sufficient for my winter fuel. One and all please accept my heartfelt thanks.
