Monday afternoon Frank Barden, aged 8 years, who lives with his grand-parents, S.B. Barden and wife on the T.D. Cook farm northwest of town, went to the Seely pond about 2 o'clock, which is only a short distance from his home, to fish, which he had been doing every few days. When supper time came he had not returned and his grandfather went in search of him. As he neared the mill pond he saw the little fellow's hat floating on the water and upon wading out toward it his foot struck the body and it arose to the surface. The old gentleman caught him in his arms and carried him ashore and started home with him when a neighbor, Mr. Berchey, who was passing, went to his assistance and carried the remains to the house where they were prepared by Undertaker Kerr of this city and shipped this afternoon to Delta, Iowa where his father lives, for interment.
