Henry John Wouters "Hank" of New Baltimore, Michigan, and formerly a longtime resident of Warren, Michigan, entered eternal life on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 years old.

Hank was born March 27, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Bernard Norbert Wouters and the late Marian (nee: Dole) Wouters. Hank graduated from Nativity Catholic High School in Detroit and went on to attend and graduate from the University of Detroit with a Bachelors of Science degree. He worked for over 24 years as a supervisor in the accounting department with General Motors until his retirement.

During Hank's life he enjoyed staying very active. He played many different sports and later enjoyed watching and attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events and activities.

Hank was the consummate volunteer. Whenever someone or an organization needed help, Hank was there. He was a member of the Fr. Kramer Knights of Columbus, General Motors Men's Glee Club, and the St. Clement Dad's Club. When his children were attending St. Clement Schools, Hank coached for twelve years, and was the public announcer at the school football and basketball games for 30 years. When Hank's son, Christopher, was tragically killed as a police officer, Hank became very involved with MI-COPS, Michigan Concerns of Police Survivors. Hank was the current treasurer and former Vice President of MI-COPS.

During Hank's life, he achieved many awards and accolades for his abilities and service to others. As a young man he was an accomplished athlete and basketball player. Later in life he was recognized by the Catholic League Hall of Fame, and General Motors Men's Club. He was further recognized by St. Clement Church and by the Knights of Columbus for his tireless volunteer efforts. However, Hank was a humble man who chose to cherish his family time above everything else. He savored the memories of golfing, traveling, taking cruises, skiing, and planning the many outings with his children and family.

Hank is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Janice (nee: VanAcker). He is the loving father of Hank (Doris), Elizabeth, Margaret (Michael) Cyplik, Paul (Lori), Kenneth (Nancy), Nancy (Frank) Kapral, Carole (Larry) Garner, and the late Christopher Wouters. Father in-law of Val Wouters-Seagram. Devoted grandfather of 26; Great grandfather of 4; Brother of Catherine (Arnold) Konen, Marion (the late George) Treppa, Barbara (the late Bob) Krause, Bernie (Carole) Wouters. He is also survived by many other loving family members and friends.
