Barbara was born in San Diego, California to Fenton E. (Joe) and Wilda (Jean) Brandow.
She grew up in La Mesa, California, attended Helix High School, and later moved with her brother Bill and parents to Campbell, California, where she graduated high school. Barbara began working at FMC in San Jose where her parents worked. She returned to San Diego in 1966, and following the birth of daughter Sharon, began working at Pearson Ford where she worked for 28 years.
Barbara was married to Ronald Frick and instantly became Mom to three more children - Stephen, Christopher, and Susan. Barbara and Ron were able to see the children married and off on their own futures.
Barbara was the devoted grandmother of eight grandchildren- Amber, Adam, Ashley and Zachary Edelman; Ryan and Taylor Frick; and Daniel and Jeffery Frick.
Barbara loved to read about foreign lands and was fortunate to be able to visit England in 1981 with husband Ron. Following Ron's death in 1993, Barbara was able to visit daughter Sharon Edelman living in Germany with her husband Aaron then stationed with the Army.
These were treasured memories of special times. Barbara was talented in many ways. She loved to sew, knit, crochet, cook, and garden. She created many beautiful items to share with her family and these are our special mementos to treasure. Barbara was respected for her honesty, integrity, loyalty and loved for her warm and giving nature by all who knew her. Her most recent years had been a struggle with emphasema, but she lived proudly and independently to the very end. She will be missed by her loving family, but she leaves all she touched a bright star to follow.
