MERCED, Sept. 5.--Funeral services for Charles Cronkite, 18-year-old Merced high school boy, who died Sunday after a brief illness at Merced hospital are to be held tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock in Merced, from Welch & Griffin's funeral parlors. He will be buried in Mariposa cemetery. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Burt Cronkite of near Atwater. He was born in Fresno and had spent his life in California.

Charles Cronkite, son of Mr and Mrs B. E. Cronkite, passed away last Sunday at Mercy Hospital in this city, death following a brief illness caused by a rupture of the appendix. Charles was born in Fresno eighteen years ago and was the eldest of four Cronkite children. He was a member of the junior class of the Merced High School and was active in athletics and in agricultural club work. He was a most popular among his school associated and other friends and acquaintances who sincerely sympathize with his relatives in the great sorrow his untimely passing has caused them.
