76 of 506 W. Adams St. died at 5:25 pm Monday, January 19, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.
She was born on October 28, 1932 in Berwick Township, Warren County, IL to Basil Fred and Opal Eliza Ray Hoadley. She married William F. Whitney on February 2, 1951 at the Abingdon Christian Church. He survives.
Betty is also survived by her children, Sherry (and Pat) Bax of Kansas City, MO, David (and Donna) Whitney of Overland Park, KS, Wayne (and Debbie) Whitney of Houston, TX and Susan (and John) Edwards of Independence, MO; 7 grandchildren; a sister, Sally Gray of Galesburg.
She was preceded in death by parents and a brother, Don Hoadley.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Abingdon Christian Church. Rev. Jerald Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.
Memorials may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
