WILLIAM I. PENNINGTON IS CLAIMED BY DEATH
Dies in Cherokee County Hospital After 4 Weeks' Illness.
William Isaac Pennington, 89, died at the Cherokee County Hospital Monday morning (Jan 25, 1943) at 4 o'clock, after an illness of four weeks. Mr. Pennington had lived in Gaffney all his life, and was the son of the late William Riley Pennington and Carolina Self Pennington. He was a member of theGlobe Mill Church. Survivors include the following children: four daughters, Mrs. L. E. Childers, Mrs. T. O. Bright, and Mrs. J. F. Martin, all of Gaffney, and Mrs. O. B. Crook of East Gastonia, N.C.; and one son, L. S. Pennington. Alsothe following sisters survive: Mrs. Elendia Teague, of Bessmer City, N.C., and Mrs. Amanda Wylie, of Gastonia, N. C. In addition to the above, 17 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at the Providence Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Hazel Melton and the Rev. Clarence Hampton. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Craft morticians in charge. The following grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Cleve, Frank, and Andrew Pennington, Monroe and Coleman Childers, and Fulton Mullinax.
