There is a mistake on Peter's gravestone. It says he died in March of 1887. He made out his last Will in Sept of 1887! He actually died in March of 1888.
I have a copy of Peter's son, Thomas Peter Burt's, "Petition for Probate of Will" when Thomas was petitioning the court to settle his father Peter Burt's estate. This petition was filed just days after Peter Burt's wife Margaret, nee Beveridge, Burt died in July of 1891. In the Petition it states that Thomas's father Peter Burt died March 3rd, 1888.
Peter and Margaret came from Scotland in about 1851. They lived in Allegheny Co. the first several years they were in America before later moving to Iowa for several years and then on West to Oregon. They had one other daughter, Catherine Burt, who died about 1857 at about 3 years of age. Catherine is buried somewhere in Allegheny Co but nobody seems to know where as yet. Margaret had a few brothers who all lived in Allgheny Co. and stayed there and did not ever move west. Her brothers Robert and James Beveridge are both buried in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wexford. The Beveridge's in Allegheny Co. have been difficult for me, here in Oregon, to find much of any information on.
