THREE MEN KILLED NEAR TIPTON
We are informed that on Wednesday evening last, Peter Thixton, Peter Hays and John Farmer, all residing several miles south of Tipton in Morgan county, were murdered by five men, who came to their houses respectively and took them out a short distance from their homes and shot them--one of them, Mr. Hays, being shot five times in the head. All three of the unfortunate men, we learn, were witnesses against the young man "Paddy Mullens," who was shot by military authority, a short time since at Tipton, under the charge of being a bushwhacker, and it is supposed the friends or fellow assoicates of Mullens, were the perpetrators of these murders in retaliation for these three men having given evidence against Mullens.
