Mrs. Russell, the daughter of George Alec and Mary Elizabeth Rea Anding was a native of Copiah County. She grew up in the Martinsville Community and attended the University of Southern Mississippi. She and her husband, Roy L. Russell, Sr., lived in Copiah County most of their 58 years of marriage where they taught school, farmed and operated a business in Hazlehurst. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by daughter, Frances Kathleen Russell Lupo and son, Benjamin Anding Russell.
Survivors include son, Roy L "Buddy" Russell, Jr. of Hazlehurst; daughters, Nell Camille Russell Barlow of Clinton and Shelia Letitia Russell Simon of Columbia; sister, Agnes "Tot" McDaniel of Murray, KY; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst or Gideon International.
