A native of the area that is now Brantley County, he had lived most of his life there and in Glynn County. He attended the Northside Baptist Church in Brunswick and was a son of the late John Henry Rowell and Rhoda Ann Lewis Rowell. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny and Jack Rowell.
Survivors include a sister, Nellie Rowell of Nahunta, and a sister-in-law, Uldine Rowell of South Carolina; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, at Raybon Advent Christian Church.
Interment followed in Rob Lewis Cemetery.
