"Death of Ansel M. NYE--This community was greatly shocked to learn that Ansel NYE, one of the most popular young men of this section, has passed away at the Deaconess Hospital in Salem Monday afternoon Feb. 8th. He was thought to be making a rapid recovery from an operation for appendicities, but gangrene had developed and he was not strong enough to make the fight.
Ansel McDonald NYE, only son of Mr. and Mrs. R. P. NYE, was born on the home farm in the Sydney Precinct June 27, 1891. On March 1st, 1911, he married Miss Lizzie GRENZ, who with two little sons Donald and Orval mourn the loss of a devoted husband and father.
Besides his father and mother, two sisters Mrs. Edna WINTERMANTEL of Sydney , and Mrs. H. B. MCCORMICK of Portland survive.
The funeral was held from the home of J. O. Farr Thrusday at noon and burial was made at the Sydney cemetery." Supplement to The Jefferson Review, February 11, 1921 2:2 [Mrs. Elizabeth G. NYE died at her home in Sonoma , Ca, April 26, 1963.]
