Funeral Services for Mrs. Phillips Held on March 16

Mrs Martha (Mattie) Phillips, lifelong resident of the Clarksville area, died Monday March 13 at Pennock hospital following a three-week illness with pneumonia. She would have been 90 years old April 16 and was the daughter of Amasa and Pruella White. Her husband, Merton, died in 1934.

Surviving are a son, Roland, of Clarksville; five daughters, Mrs. Jay (Mildred) Wing of Freeport, Mrs. Esther Birman of Oregon, Mrs Thelma Garland and Mrs Harold (Ernestine) Calcott of Lake Odessa, and Mrs Arthur (Frances) Anderson of Muskegon; 38 grandchildren, 111 great-grandchildren, and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday at the Clarksville Bible church with interment in the Clarksville cemetery. Rev Larry Gegner and Rev Donald Mathis officiated.

Mattie White was born on the Ruben White farm, east of Clarksville, on April 16, 1871. She was the daughter of Amasa and Pricilla White.

Surviving are one son, Roland, of Clarksville; five daughters, Mrs Mildred Wing of Freeport, Mrs Esther Birman of Oregon, Mrs Francis Anderson of Muskegon, Mrs Thelma Garland and Mrs Ernestine Calcott both of Lake Odessa; thirty-seven grand children, one hundred and eleven great grandchildren, and twenty-four great, great grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday from the Clarksville Bible Church with Rev Mathis and Rev Larry Gegner officiating. Burial was in the Clarksville cemetery. The John Beattie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
