Ouachita Hopes To Place Winner In Contest
Eight MASTER FARMERS of Louisiana will be selected this year through a movement sponsored by The Progressive Farmer, a southern agricultural journal, according to announcement made at the convention of agricultural extension service workers here yesterday. Ouachita Parish will seek to place a winner in one of the eight coveting places. Except for the news article in the Times-Picayune, I can't find a news article awarding the 1930 Master Farmer award to Mr. McDonald.

Louisiana Progressive Group Praised By Speakers At Banquet
Proper management methods, improved pure-bred live stock and the practice of intensified cultivation together with diversified farming would save the American farmer millions of dollars, Dan H. Otis of Madison, Wisconsin, director of the Agricultural Commission of the American Bankers' Association, stated in an address Friday night at The Roosevelt before Louisiana's nine MASTER FARMERS. Given in honor of the MASTER FARMERS of 1930 and their wives by the Progressive Farmer and Southern Ruralist in co-operation with the Louisiana state extension service, the affair was attended by 200 people.

3-ACRE TRACT OF IRISH POTATOES MAKES BIG YIELD
339 bushels of U. S. No. 1's and 25 bushels culls, or a total of 364 bushels is the reported yield per acre on the 3 acre demonstration of Irish potatoes conducted on the farm of "MASTER FARMER" W. W. McDonald, according to E. R. Strahan, parish agent for Ouachita Parish.

MCDONALD RITES SCHEDULED TODAY
Prominent Monroe Agriculturist - Dairy Owner Died Yesterday Evening
William W. McDonald, 87, well known Monroe agriculturalist and dairy owner, died yesterday afternoon. Funeral services will be held today in the Methodist Church in Jonesboro at 4 pm, Rev. W. O. Lynch officiating. Mr. McDonald's body will remain in state at the residence on Columbia Road until 2 pm when there will be a brief prayer service conducted by Rev. I. L. Yeager, pastor of the Stone Avenue Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.

McDonald was awarded the title of MASTER FARMER awarded by the Progressive Farmer's Magazine in 1930. Prior to moving to Monroe, he resided in Jonesboro where he was engaged in business.

Mr. McDonald is survived by two son:
