Uncle Joe was married to Mahalia Morrison June 28, 1902. They had five children. Two boys and three girls. The first child, a son, died when he was three weeks old. December 26, 1918 the second child, a daughter and the fifth child another child died during the influenza epidemic. They died about 4 hours apart.
Uncle Joe and Aunt Coot (this was his wife's nick name) sold their farm that they owned in Williamson settlement and moved to Beaumont. Lonnie B, their son was about 10 and Sidney their daughter was about eight.
Uncle Joe bought some rent property with the money he got from the farm. This proved to be a financial disaster.
A few years later Uncle Joe and Aunt Coot separated and were divorced. Uncle Joe went back to what he new best, cutting logs, working in the oil field and later farming.
March 10, 1931 Uncle Joe married Jetha Bilbo Eanis. They lived on a farm near Buna.
Uncle Joe spent his last three years divided between living with his son Lonnie B. in the Williamson settlement and his daughter Sidney Weber. He died October 16, 1955 at the age of 81 years and 6 months. He is buried in the Williamson Cemetery.
