GARLAND - Norma Nelson Jensen, 101, passed away Jan. 6, 2009. She was born Oct. 7, 1907, in Brigham City to Orson Peter and Thora Hansen Nelson. She graduated from Box Elder High School. She attended Utah State Agricultural College, graduating with a degree in Elementary Education. Following graduation she taught school in Promontory, Elwood, and Bear River City.

She married Norman Leo Jensen June 1, 1936. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Garland, where they raised three children: Kirk Orson Jensen, Martin Sherman Jensen and Donna Marie Jensen Johnson.

Norma was an active member of the community. She was a member of, participated in, and served as president of the Ladies Self Culture Club. She was a member of the LDS Church, serving many callings, and was a member of the PTA.

She was always active, taking great pride in her yard. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends and family, and reading. She will be remembered as always being generous to those in need. Many of her students that she taught in grade school came to visit her in later years. She enjoyed these visits very much.
